Little Manly Beach

Description

When it comes to beautiful beaches in Sydney, Australia, the Northern Beaches are often the first to come to mind. From the famous surf spots of Manly and Freshwater to the secluded shores of Palm Beach, this area is renowned for its stunning coastline and crystal-clear waters. However, if you’re looking for a quieter spot away from the crowds, Little Manly Beach might be a perfect choice.

Located just a short walk from the bustling heart of Manly, Little Manly Beach is a hidden gem that visitors often overlook. Yet, despite its small size, this picturesque cove boasts all the natural beauty and charm that the Northern Beaches are famous for. Here’s what you need to know about this idyllic spot.

Getting There:

Getting to Little Manly Beach is easy. If you’re coming from Sydney’s CBD, you can catch a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf, which takes around 30 minutes. From there, it’s just a 10-minute walk along the scenic Manly Beach Promenade to reach the beach. Alternatively, if you’re driving, plenty of street parking is available in the surrounding streets. However, parking can be challenging during peak periods, such as weekends and holidays.

The Little Manly Beach is a small, sheltered cove perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The sand is soft and golden, and the water is calm and transparent, making it an excellent spot for families with young children.

Additionally, lush vegetation and rocky cliffs surround the beach, giving it a private and intimate atmosphere. You can relax on the sand, soak up the sun, or dip in the water to cool off.

Facilities:
Despite its small size, Little Manly Beach has plenty of facilities to make your visit comfortable and convenient. There are public toilets, showers, changing rooms just behind the beach, and a small grassy area where you can set up a picnic. If you’re feeling peckish, several cafes and restaurants are nearby, offering a range of tasty treats and refreshments.

Things to Do:
While Little Manly Beach is primarily a swimming and sunbathing spot, there are plenty of other things to see and do in the surrounding area. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hire a stand-up paddleboard or kayak and explore the calm waters of the cove. Alternatively, you can stroll along the Manly Beach Promenade, which offers stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding coastline. The promenade stretches from Little Manly Beach to Shelly Beach and takes around 20-30 minutes to walk one way. If you’re visiting during whale watching season (June to November), keep an eye out for humpback whales as they migrate along the coast. You might be lucky to spot them from the beach or the promenade.
