Национальный парк Таронг

Описание

Tarong National Park is a protected area located in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, Australia. The park covers an area of approximately 11,600 hectares and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park is known for its rugged terrain, stunning views, and unique wildlife, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.

The park is located on the eastern slopes of the Bunya Mountains and is named after the nearby Tarong Power Station, which is the largest power station in Queensland. The park is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and offers visitors a range of activities, including bushwalking, camping, and wildlife watching.

One of the main features of Tarong National Park is its rugged terrain, which includes steep gorges, rocky outcrops, and dense forests. The park is also home to a number of waterways, including the Stuart River and the Barker Creek. These waterways provide important habitat for a range of aquatic species, including platypus, turtles, and fish.

The park is home to a diverse range of flora, including eucalyptus forests, rainforests, and woodlands. The park is particularly known for its bunya pines, which are a type of conifer tree that are native to the region. These trees can grow up to 45 meters tall and produce large, edible nuts that were traditionally an important food source for Indigenous Australians.

The park is also home to a range of wildlife, including wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, and echidnas. The park is particularly known for its birdlife, with over 100 species of birds recorded in the area. Visitors may be lucky enough to spot rare species such as the red goshawk and the powerful owl.

There are several walking tracks in Tarong National Park, ranging from short, easy walks to more challenging hikes. One of the most popular walks is the Theodolite Creek Trail, which follows the creek through a stunning rainforest gorge. The trail is approximately 6.5 kilometers long and takes around 3-4 hours to complete.

The park also has several campgrounds, including the Paradise Dam camping area and the Creek camping area. These campgrounds are equipped with basic facilities such as toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits. Visitors can also go fishing in the nearby rivers and creeks, with fish such as Australian bass and Mary River cod found in the area.
