Blue Lake – Mount Gambier


The Blue Lake is regarded as the crowning achievement of Mount Gambier's tourism attractions and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. It is undoubtedly a singular and spectacular sight that annually astounds hundreds of visitors. The Blue Lake is located in one of Mount Gambier's extinct volcanic craters, nestled amid a stunning volcanic landscape.

The Blue Lake exhibits a vivid cobalt blue hue from December through March each year, affording several breathtaking picturesque views of Mount Gambier and its volcanic crater. The lake changes to a heavier steel grey colour from April through November.
A 3.6-kilometre walking track that leads to all the viewing platforms around Blue Lake is available to guests. The trail also leads to the passageway that connects Blue Lake and Leg of Mutton Lake crater.
